Original oil painting on cotton box canvas, 22" x 18". Weight before packaging; 890g (~1.96)
The main church for the town in which I reside, and within easy walking distance of the building in which my studio is located. The view of the church is from the gate to the churchyard from the main road. This scene deliberately portrays the church as it can be seen during late April, when the oak trees in the churchyard are starting to bloom. I think this creates a beautiful canopy of of green and casts a remarkable mottled shadow that is effectively depicted. For this reason, and the reason that the image could be snapshot from anytime between now and 200 years ago, I have wanted to paint this scene for a long time. Ideal for residents or tourists of the area.
